Types of Objects

Objects can be used in expressions. These objects include dimension groups, dimensions, members, property values, ledger groups, ledgers, and cell ranges.
Type of Object | Description & Use |

Dimension Group |
An object that represents a collection of all available dimensions. Used as a foothold to obtain dimension objects. |
Dimension |
An individual dimension itself. Mainly used as a foothold to obtain member objects. |
Member |
An individual dimension member itself. Used to obtain member labels, names, and property values, and to determine parent-child relationships among members. |
Property |
An object that represents individual properties of a dimension member. Used to determine and display the property values of members. |
Ledger Group |
An object that represents a collection of all available ledgers. Used as a foothold to obtain ledger objects. |
Ledger |
An individual ledger. Mainly used for obtaining the labels of ledgers associated with cells targeted for text-based calculations. |
Ledger Edition Group |
An object that represents a collection of all available ledger editions. Used as a foothold to obtain ledger edition objects. |
Ledger Edition |
An individual ledger edition. Used for access control on a per-ledger-edition basis. |
Cell Range |
An object representing a cell range on a document created from a form. Used to obtain values within the cell range. |
Field |
An object that represents each field in the import specifications of a form, used in 'formulas' to denote import data fields. Used to obtain field values. |
