Operating Environment

This manual is in pilot operation.

Overview

Foundation Software

Compatible with the Windows family of operating systems. Windows is primarily 64-bit, but for clients operating on a web server base, 32-bit versions are also usable (excluding standard). For servers operated on a web server base, and for standalone use, Java (Java Runtime Environment) is required. For client PCs operating on a web server base, Java is generally not necessary (see 'Details' below). Client machines require a web browser and Excel (Excel is necessary only for clients using [Excel-Link]). Additionally, the fusion_place Runtime Environment (FRE) needs to be installed. FRE can usually be installed without administrator rights and is updated more infrequently than the fusion_place core. The fusion_place program itself is automatically downloaded/updated from the server via FRE. The foundation software that fusion_place supports includes products/versions that are generally supported by their developers/providers. Once the support period for the developers/providers’ products/versions ends, regardless of other mentions in this manual, they will no longer be supported by fusion_place, so please be aware.

Required Equipment Specs

For ledger data counts not exceeding 200,000[1], an average computer with about 4 GB of memory is generally sufficient for both server and client machines. fusion_place loads all ledger data into memory, so the required memory depends on the number of ledger data entries. If ledger data entries exceed 200,000, please estimate the memory capacity based on the Memory & Disk Capacity Estimation Guidelines.

Standalone Operation

Operating System

The following Windows versions
(Excluding Itanium-compatible Windows)[2]

Windows 11 (64-bit)
Windows 10 (64-bit)
Windows Server 2022 (same as above)
Windows Server 2019 (same as above)
Windows Server 2016 (same as above)

Oracle JDK 17 (64-bit)[3]

fusion_place ⇐ 12.0

Oracle JDK 17 (64-bit), Oracle JDK 11 (64-bit)

3. JDKs are provided by multiple vendors. We support the Oracle JDK provided by Oracle. You are free to use other OpenJDKs, but if incidents experienced by the customer cannot be replicated on Oracle JDK, we may not be able to address them.

Web Browser

A web browser such as Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, or Firefox is required for menu page display.

Microsoft Excel
(Only required when using [Excel-Link])

Excel for Microsoft 365[4] (desktop applications only)

Excel 2021, 2019, 2016

Both 64-bit and 32-bit versions included.

4. formerly Excel for Office 365

Disk Space

Approximately 500 MB of free space required

For ledger data counts of about 200,000[5], refer to the Memory & Disk Capacity Estimation Guidelines.

Physical Memory Capacity

Recommended: 4 GB or more

For ledger data counts exceeding 200,000[5], refer to the Memory & Disk Capacity Estimation Guidelines.

  1. Using versions of Java from Oracle or other OpenJDK providers whose support has expired, or versions of Windows, Excel, etc., from Microsoft whose support has expired, to operate this product entails security risks. Our support does not imply a reduction of such security risks. Please use it with understanding.

  2. Due to Java issues, even in environments listed in the table, fusion_place may not operate. In such cases, you may be asked to switch to another version number of Java.

1. Considering that management applications handle aggregated data, 200,000 is a considerably large number. For example, with 100 departments and 100 accounts, maintaining budgets and actuals for three years, the maximum count is 60,000 (100 × 100 × 2 × 3). The actual combinations of data that occur are typically much fewer.
2. Windows operating in a virtual environment is also supported if it is a version listed in this table. However, if incidents in such a virtual environment cannot be replicated in a non-virtual environment, the investigation and resolution of such incidents will be the responsibility of the customer.
5. The data count is the number of actual member combinations in the ledger (excluding aggregated members). However, ignore relative period dimensions and display dimensions when counting combinations. Also, count the totals estimated for both the workspace and published editions (only count changes made during work in the workspace edition). The memory capacity here assumes a minimum of 12 periods per fiscal year.
